The agent reacts with the burning oil or fat forming a 'blanket' which rapidly knocks the flame out, cools the burning oil and chemically reacts to form a soap-free substance, sealing thesurface and preventing re-ignition.
Once used, as the solution is usually akaline, it is recommended the surface be cleaned and all residues removed within a reasonable time period.
